JOHN (JACK) WESLEY COLLINSON On Wednesday, October 25, 2006, John Collinson, aged 76 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital, with his family by his side, after a battle with leukemia. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances (nee Porteous), of 40 years of marriage; his brother Allan; sisters, Barbara, Maddy and Buddy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his mother Vera, father Bob and brothers, Bob and Glenn. Born in Souris, MB, November 11, 1929, Jack enlisted in the Canadian Army (PPCLI) in l955 and served in Egypt from 1958 to 1959 with the United Nations Forces. He returned to Calgary until 1961, was posted to Churchill and discharged in 1963 at the close of the army base. Jack met the love of his life in 1964; married Frances July 23, 1966 and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He was a loyal employee with the City of Winnipeg Transit for 28 years, making his last run with his beloved wife and nephew, Danny, on board. Jack will best be remembered as a kind and caring individual who went out of his way to lend a hand to all of his family, as well as numerous friends. He possessed a very unique sense of humour which will be missed by all. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave., with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant, presiding. The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris and staff at the Grace Hospital for their dedication and kindness. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Dystonia Foundation of which Jack was the treasurer, or to a charity of your choice.
