FRANCES ROSE COLLINS (nee DARCHUK) Peacefully with family by her side Frances Collins passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 85. She was born April 2, 1925 in Melnice, MB and moved to Winnipeg as a young woman. She married John Collins in May 1953 and they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary before his passing in September 1999. Frances spent a number of her early years working in the garment industry, occasionally filling in as a fashion illustrator. This fit in nicely with her love of art and drawing. In the early 1980s she decided it was time for a career change and accepted a position in the circulation department at the Winnipeg Free Press. She worked there until her retirement at age 65. Frances enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. Sunday suppers at Grandma's became a long-standing family tradition. She was predeceased by her mother Jessie and father Michael, sister Alice and brothers Harold and Allan. She is survived by her sons Patrick (Judy), Greg and grandchildren Kyle and Nicole as well as many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kyle Collins, Brad Darchuk, Ken Peacock, Rick Ottenbreit, Greg Collins and Patrick Collins. Nicole Collins will be an honourary pallbearer. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue. The family would like to thank the staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Home and the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
