CAROL AUDREY LELYK Stubborn to the end, Carol Audrey Lelyk refused medical treatment and passed away in her sleep during the early hours of November 27, 2011 at 71 years of age. Born to Fern and Jack Fry in Dauphin, MB on June 2, 1940, Carol was the middle child of five children. She grew up in Dauphin, worked at Sticky's, married and had two children before moving to the big city of Winnipeg in 1965, where she had another two children. Carol worked at several places including the Balmoral Hotel for many years before buying a taxicab in 1980, which she operated for almost 20 years. Not one to sit still, when she retired, she volunteered with Age Opportunity, spending time with the elderly and also providing overnight home care. Cherry Pie Filling , as she was affectionately called by her great-grand-children, enjoyed 5-pin bowling, doing crosswords, playing bingo, suduko, scrabble, and spending time with her family. She also liked to bake and was known for trying to save time by doubling or tripling a recipe, only to wonder why it didn't quite turn out the way that she had expected. Predeceased by her parents, sisters Muriel and Helen, sister-in-law Pat and brother-in-law Lawrence, Carol will be sadly missed by her children: Wanda, Warren, Wyman, and Wendy; grandchildren: Cassandra, Catlin, Brandon, Cody and Foster; great-grandchildren Taylor and Ella; adopted grandchildren Manda, Mayson and Kayden; sister Emily; brother Rodney; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dearest and best friend, Brenda. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue in Winnipeg. A second memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Home, 502 Main Street in Dauphin with interment to follow in Dauphin Riverside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents. Memorial donations in Carol's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
