STANLEY OLESCHUK With great sorrow, the family of Stanley Oleschuk announce his sudden passing at St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, December 1, 2011. He was surrounded by his loving family and went very peacefully into the arms of God. Stanley was born in Winnipeg on December 22, 1923, and was predeceased by his parents, John and Julia Oleschuk; his brothers, Bill and Eddy; and his sisters, Nellie and Amy, who will be there to welcome him home. After serving in Europe for four years during the Second World War, Stan returned safely home and married the love of his life, Bernice Dixon. They had a wonderful marriage filled with love and were approaching their 65th anniversary at the end of January. Stan was employed by the River East School Division for 30 years and always took great pride in the work that he did. He was a wonderful father to Sandra and Wayne, always loving and patient and very proud of their accomplishments. Besides his wife and children, he will be sadly missed by his son-in-law Ken (Sonny) Smerek; his daughter-in-law Brenda; and his precious grandchildren, Tyler Smerek and Cory, Katy and Jocelyn Oleschuk; as well as his two sisters, Verna Taylor and Elinor Geisel and many nieces and nephews. Stan was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild and we know he will be smiling down on that precious little one when it arrives in February. After his retirement, Stan and Bernice spent many wonderful winters in Arizona and Texas where they made many lasting friendships. They also travelled to Victoria and Europe and had wonderful holidays aboard many cruise ships. Stan was a friend to all he met and we his family will miss him and love him forever. Cremation and a private family service have taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Rest in Peace Beloved
