SARAH (BORNE) FALK It is with great sadness that the family of Sarah Falk announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB. Sarah was born in Marinowka, Ekaterinoslov, South Russia on December 12, 1921 to Heinrich and Katharina Borne. In 1926, the family immigrated to Canada, settling first in the Winkler, area, later at Oakland and Headingley, MB. Sarah received her LPN certificate in 1953 and worked in her chosen profession until her retirement. Sarah was a care giver to many, both through her work and also through her compassion with family. Sarah was not afraid of a challenge, knowing that she always had her strong faith in God as support. In 1967, Sarah married Bernard (Ben) Falk, and immediately became a mother and a grandmother. She blossomed in this new role and was loved and respected by her new family. She has left us with memories of fresh zwieback and peppermint cookies, hand-stitched quilts and afghans, Bible readings and special prayers, fun times with board games. Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Bernhard Falk (1994), infant grandson Victor Falk, sisters: Mary Warkentin, Annie Sawatzky, Kay Warkentin, brothers: Ted, Abe, Henry Borne. She is survived by her children: Gert (Hank) Neufeld, David (Sandra) Falk, Victor (Cheryl) Falk, grandchildren: Brant (Brenda) Neufeld, Daryl (Karen) Neufeld, Stephanie (Henry) Verhoeven, Darcy (Lori) Falk, Sharon Falk (Damian), great-grandchildren: Bobby and Alison Neufeld, Shaelyn and Jared Verhoeven, Rhett and Rhys Falk. Also surviving is one sister, Betty (John) Buller. Sarah expressed her faith in action and deed. She found great comfort in the teachings of the Bible with a favourite passage being Psalm 84:11: For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will be withheld from them who walk uprightly. Funeral service for Sarah will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, viewing prior to service. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m., Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie. If desired, donations may be made to First Mennonite Church Memorial Fund, or Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2Y 0S8, where Sarah had most recently resided.
