GERTRUDE EWERT On Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, Gertrude Ewert passed away at the age of 88 years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. GERTRUDE EWERT Gertrude Ewert (nee Weyer) passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the age of 88, with family at her side at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Gertrude was born on September 22, 1923, in Alexanderwohl, Ukraine. Her parents were David Weyer and Kaethe Weyer (nee Loewen). Gertrude was the third of five children. She married Jakob Ewert in 1945. Gertrude was a very active member in her church for over 50 years, and she was a woman of strong faith. She is predeceased by her husband, Jakob; infant daughter, Esther; her parents and two siblings. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter, Mary, and husband, Harold Foth; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Rod Burrows), Christine, Andrea (Matt Wachal); as well as two sisters, nephews, nieces and friends. Gertrude loved the Lord with all her heart, and now, although we may mourn her, we find comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord. The family wishes to thanks all the staff and volunteers at Donwood Manor for the loving care they provided to our mom and oma! The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with viewing one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home.
