ANNIE FROESE 1925 - 2011 On Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Donwood Manor Personal Care home Annie Froese passed away peacefully into the presence of her heavenly father at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish her memory are; six sons David (Sylvia), Cornie (Ruth), Bob (Catherine), Ken (Dorothy), Ed (Chris), Howard (Lydia); 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Rudy (Sylvia), two sisters Margaret Friesen and Helen Kasper (Henry). She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years David, one son Henry, two daughters-in-law, her parents, Henry and Lena Esau, three brothers and one sister in-law. Mom was born in Gnadenthal, Southern Russia and immigrated to Canada in 1925 with her parents at the age of six months. Our parents farmed near Sperling, Manitoba until their retirement in 1980 when they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Whether it was the seniors bowling league, entertaining family and friends or the many trips to visit family out of province or to warmer winter climates they enjoyed an active retirement and good health for many years. In 2006 our parents moved to the Donwood apartments and later mom entered the Donwood Personal Care home where she suffered a stroke in 2009. A big thank you to the Donwood first floor nursing staff and all the care workers for the love and compassionate care you gave to our mother. A special thank you to Mom's sister Margaret and friends Martha Sierks and Mary Plew for their faithful visits over the past five years. Mom always looked forward to their visits and wished they would stay longer. Many thanks to her church friends, and extended family who took the time to visit and have a cup of coffee with her. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Viewing will take place at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Monday January 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with a short devotional at 7:15 p.m. Viewing also at the church prior to the service. Interment to follow in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Donwood Manor Chaplaincy Fund, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2G 0V9.

  • Anne was a great hostess. Our family visited from California and Anne showed us a wonderful time that my husband and I and our children will always remember. - Posted by: Martha Reimer Enns (cousin) on: Jan 02, 2012
