Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY HIEBERT On November 13, 1933, a baby girl was born to Gerhardt and Anna Harder of Lowe Farm, Manitoba. In the dark days of the Great Depression came a precious gift called Dora Harder. As first born, Dora learned to carry a lot of responsibility from an early age, helping her mother in the home. Her mother was often needed in the field to help her husband as they struggled to make ends meet on the farm. Dora was expected to care for the 10 siblings that followed. One brother died at the age of seven from tetanus. Mom spoke of him often. She attended school in Kane and Lowe Farm up to grade seven. It wasn't a coincidence that she chose the day after her 20th birthday to be married - because she did not want to get married as a teenager. It was a lovely warm day much like last fall. Mom accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour in May of 1958 and was baptized on June of 1965. In the summer of 1990, Mom and Dad were in a vehicle accident that caused the vertebrae in Mom's neck to crack. In April of 2000, Dad and us had to make the difficult decision of putting Mom into a home because she was too difficult for him to manage. January 1, 2012 at about 6:45 p.m. Dorothy Hiebert was released from her body of suffering and delivered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. It is our desire to revive the memories of our precious mother and to thank God for the time we had to spend with her. It is easy to praise her for the sweet and gentle and caring person she was, but it would be her desire as she expressed in her poem (on the back of the bulletin) that she wanted her Lord to be glorified for what He was able to do in and through her. Dorothy Hiebert was predeceased by one brother Ed who was still born, her brother George at the age of seven, her daughter Annie Sharon, and her parents. She will be lovingly remembered by: her husband - George Hiebert; her children - Darlene (Matt) Crane; Wanda Bornn (Bruce); Gerald (Marilyn) Hiebert; Eunice Hiebert; Marina Hiebert her grandchildren - James and Nathan (Darlene); Eldon and Travis (Wanda); Clayton, Jennifer and Lisa (Gerald); Mitchel and Spencer (Eunice); Chas and Bryce (Marina); her great- grandson - Cole Bornn (Eldon) her siblings -Kathy (George) Dyck; Don (Audrey) Harder; Anne (Henry) Tiessen; Peter (Margaret) Harder; Jessie (Bernie) Tiessen, Henry (Doris) Harder; Menno Harder; Verna (Terry) Funk; Martin (Eleanor) Harder; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Albright Church, 3400 DeVries, Winnipeg with interment at Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 120 Donald Street; Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

I remember your mother and wife as a generous, humble, and happy spirit. I remember the lunches after church those days in Stead. What stands out all these years later is her loving energy, empathy, and enthusiasm for life. What she leaves is a spirit that will live on in all those whose lives she touched. My condolences to the family for your loss. Rest in Peace Mrs. Hiebert. Hope there's a great craft room for you up there! - Posted by: Linda Wiebe (Hiebert) (Fan) on: Jan 07, 2012

I found in Doris a "kindred spirit" as Anne of Green Gables would put it. She was a very capable lady and I learned so much from her. A most loving and loyal friend. I will always treasure her in my memories. - Posted by: Sadie Peters (friend) on: Jan 05, 2012
