HELEN ELEANOR PAPAGEORGE It is with sadness that we announce Mom's passing on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Mom was born July 26, 1914 in Winnipeg to Karl and Anna Slugoski. She was a long time resident of the Wolseley area (57 years on Lipton Street) until her macular degeneration required a move in 2009 to supportive housing where she was especially cared for by Diane, Carmelle, Debbie and her good friend Jean Welburn. Mom will be lovingly remembered and cherished forever by her three children, Deno (Linda) of Bermuda, Doreen (Louis) of Winnipeg, Donald (Trina) of Costa Rica, her ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty and brothers Ed and Frank all of Vancouver, BC. Helen was predeceased by her husband Gus, daughter-in-law Lynda, sisters Adele and Marion, and brothers Chris and Stanley. Mom enjoyed baking for Friday night tea, knitting, embroidery and gardening. We must carry the values that she gave us forward and nurture our own children, nieces and nephews and grandchildren in the way that we were raised. Helen was a member of The Polish Gymnastic Association Sokol and was presented with an Honorary Certificate of long standing of 50 Years on October 1981. The family would like to extend thanks to the staffs at Supportive Housing, 875 Elizabeth Road for these past two and a half years and to Grace Hospital 2E for their care and kindness this past week. Cremation has taken place and an interment will be held at a later date at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Winnipeg. Mom and Dad are together now Resting in Jesus.
