KARL SCHULER Karl Schuler passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Karl was born in 1933, in a small town in Eastern Germany. As the war ended, he journeyed to Dusseldorf where he lived until applying for passage to Canada. Like many others in his situation, he worked on a farm until his passage was paid in full. He learned English in Canada by conversing with the children at dinner time and, before making his way out west, he worked with horses hauling lumber in Eastern Canada. In Western Canada, he was hired by Richardson Stock farm and stayed there until they shut down their cattle industry. His vast experience with cattle and horses led him to Riverbend Farms where he worked for 14 years until suffering a stroke. Having lost all contact with his family in Germany, he made Riverbend his home. He loved the land. He loved horses. He will be missed.
