WILFRED FRANCIS CLAVET It is with profound sadness that the family of Wilf Clavet announces his sudden passing on January 15, 2012, in his 90th year. Dad was a man of his times who led his life with quiet resolve and modesty, never asking for anything in return. Dad inspired his family by example, and by the love he carried for us all. Always a gentleman, Dad never put himself first. His only consideration was for his family's well-being. Even as Dad's health began to decline, his devotion to us never wavered nor did his sense of humour and pleasant personality. Wilf is survived by his loving wife and constant companion, Norma, and children Marc, Ward (Barb), Dave (Pam), and Janine (Rod), and by his treasured granddaughters, Alyssa and Lauren. He is also survived by his sisters and their families: Rita Stark, Betty Newport, and Ruth Reynolds, and by his brother-in-law, Tom Sedgwick, and his family. Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (nee Sedgwick). Wilf will surely be missed by our second family at the Lac du Bonnet cottage. During this difficult time, our family has found great solace accompanied by much love, joy, laughter, laced with tears reminiscing about a truly fine man. THE JACK OF ALL TRADES, AND MASTER OF MANY, HAS PASSED Wilf was proud of his careers and accomplishments. He began as a journeyman electrician with his father in Thunder Bay, bringing electricity to many homes and farms throughout northwestern Ontario, rural Manitoba, and Winnipeg. With his vast knowledge, dedication, and warm character, Wilf's successful sales career spanned decades with stops along the way at Ashdown's, Mallory, Clavet Agency, and IDEAL. Wilf cherished his many friends and the relationships that he fostered over the years. He also served in the Canadian military, both here in Canada and abroad from 1942 to 1946. With determined single-mindedness, Dad was always in pursuit of a new project or masterfully completing an old one. Tinkering, puttering, and renovating were his lifes great callings. No job was too difficult or challenging for him to undertake. No doubt tool sales will be down! Dad, we hope you find all your tools! Thank you to all of those who have assisted us over the past several months. A special thank you to the paramedics and first responders, to all the members of Health Sciences Centre Resuscitation Unit, most especially, Dr. Shand and nurse Shelley, and to Dad's physician, Dr. Smal. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilf's name may be made to the Alzheimer Society. A private family service will take place. A celebration of Wilf's life will be held for family and friends in the spring.
