Date of Passing: Jan 12, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD ALLAN SHUTE It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gerald Allan Shute, aged 79, of Winnipeg, MB on January 12, 2012. Left to cherish Allan's memory is his beloved wife of 48 years, Dorothy, daughters Alana (from a previous marriage), Stacy, Darcy (Kevin), and Colleen (Mark); also grandchildren Matthew (Melissa), Ashleigh, Alysha (Dieter), Allan, Tanner, Riley, Jamie, Brittany, Jeremy, and Nicholas and Janine, as well as great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lucien, Nyla and Maxen. He was predeceased by his mother Christina and father Harold. Allan spent most of his life working in real estate, previously in computer sales. His greatest love was for his family and would always be overjoyed to see them. Allan has gone home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and wanted his children and grandchildren to always know of his devotion to God. Al was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 35 years where he spent time socializing and playing billiards with his friends. Al's grandchildren were the joy of his life and he created a loving relationship with them. His deep concern and love for others was an inspiration to all those whose lives he touched. He could always be counted on for a word of loving encouragement and a helping hand. In his quiet way he helped others and set a powerful example for us all. He was a man of many talents, could fix anything and encouraged all to try to do the same. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed emailing frequently with his life-long friends. He will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place through Voyage Funeral Home and Crematorium. At Al's request, there will be no formal service. A private graveside service will take place at Chapel Lawn with immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. I will miss you forever; you were the love of my life, my best friend, and all I ever needed. Till we meet again, my loving husband, Rest in Peace.

This is my wonderful Grampa! I love you Grampa so much and you made a HUGE difference in my life, for my whole life, you were the father I always wanted, the man I want my son to grow up to be just like, and you will be missed every day by me and our whole family. I am overjoyed to have spent so much time with you and my only regrets is not spending more and getting to hear more about your life. Someday we will meet again and until then, I promise to take better care of my life, do all the things I set out to accomplish and be the very best I can be! - Posted by: Ashleigh Witt (Grand Daughter) on: Jan 20, 2012

I worked in real estate when Al was active and played snooker with Al until recently when he was having trouble with his eyes, many times discussing our real estate stories and Al and I still had many conversations. A good man who will be missed. I was shocked to hear he passed away. - Posted by: Tom Derksen (friend at senior snooker, work in real estate since 1979) on: Jan 18, 2012

In loving memory of my dear Grandfather Allan Shute. My father left when I was a baby, and my whole life up till last Thursday my grandpa has been there for me. We spent tons of time togehter over the years, just me and him. He loved me very much and I know it. He would always greet me with this heartfelt "Its Ally!" and he was so excited to see me. When I left he would say "So long, for now!" I miss him so much. Grandpa was so fun and interesting to talk to, he knew lots about history and pretty much anything I asked him. He always made the best burgers and would make a sunny day even sunnier just by being with him. He had such a glow. I'm shocked he left so suddenly, my family and I didn't get to say goodbye. He is still alive in my heart and always will be. "I will never forget you Grandpa *Father of light*" - Posted by: Alysha Voth (Grand Daughter) on: Jan 18, 2012
