PETER PODOLCHUK Peacefully, on Thursday, January 19, 2012, Peter passed away at the Pinawa Hospital, at the age of 90. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28 at Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church in Elma, MB. Viewing has been changed to begin at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Papushka, David Papushka, Ed Kozak, Eldon Hood, Clint Giesbrecht and Alfred Wohlgemuth. PETER PODOLCHUK Peacefully, on Thursday, January 19, 2012, Peter passed away at the Pinawa Hospital, at the age of 90. Peter is lovingly remembered by his sister Pearl; nephew Harry (Eileen) Papushka; nieces Joan and Fern Papushka; great-nieces Caren Wegman, Sharon (Jeff) Goy and great-nephew David (Kathleen) Papushka and six great-great- nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his parents Pauline and Stefan, brothers Mike, Sam and John; sisters Anne, Kay, Mary and brother-in-law Paul Papushka. Peter was born and raised in Elma, MB. where he worked the family farm he inherited from his parents. He loved the life -- the land, farm animals and anything he could grow on his acreage whether it be grain, hay, trees, veggies or flowers. Peter also enjoyed attending farm auction sales, summer picnics and baseball games. For many years, he supplied hay to his customers at Assiniboia Downs Race Track. Peter always loved a good game of shuffleboard and participated in many tournaments. Fiddling contests were another interest and you could often find Peter and Pearl at these events throughout the province. The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Herd and the staff at the Pinawa Hospital for the care and comfort extended to Peter, and also to the many neighbours and friends who have visited Peter and now Pearl regularly. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28 at Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church in Elma, MB with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Papushka, David Papushka, Ed Kozak, Eldon Hood, Clint Giesbrecht and Alfred Wohlgemuth.
