RUTH KRUK Suddenly, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, January 29, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital. Ruth was the only child of Rudy Swatiuk who predeceased her in 1986 and Olga Swatiuk who passed on December 26, 2011. Ruth survived her loving husband Jerry by seven days, who predeceased her on January 22, 2012. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Maryann Driver and children Alexa, Devon, Noah and Luke; and daughter Carolyn Henrick and children Claire and William. Also remaining are Walter and Yvonne Mudlo and their daughter Donna Lagace and family. Ruth was raised and schooled in the North End of Winnipeg. She worked for Canada Trust briefly in her early years and married Jerry Kruk in 1963. In 1966, Ruth began her true career as mother and caregiver when she and Jerry started their family. Raising her children and caring for her family was Ruth's true vocation. Her dedication to the family unit allowed Jerry to advance his career and acquire his MBA in the evenings while raising two small children. Evenings and weekends were consumed with lessons for the girls and social gatherings with many of Jerry's social committees. Ruth gave new meaning to the word hospitality. Together she and Jerry hosted numerous parties setting a standard for social gatherings that many will never forget. When Jerry began his career as President of CAA Manitoba, Ruth began her unofficial career as his assistant. Together, they travelled the world and hosted numerous cruises for 13 years before Jerry retired in 2004. With Ruth at his side, Jerry was able to leave his legacy of caring and compassion, and together they were a dynamic duo. Ruth supported Jerry as he became a tremendous success all the while defining a path for the girls to become who they are today. Ruth was strong in conviction, but soft at heart. Her six grandchildren became the center of her world and she couldn't wait for the summer to host pool parties for them all. She personified the word generous. Nothing was too much to ask for which her grandchildren quickly became aware of. She welcomed everyone and wasn't satisfied unless you stayed for a meal. Ruth is now together again with Jerry, looking down with a smile. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 6 at St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok, and Rt. Rev. Canon W. Klimchuk officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Intensive Care Units of both St. Boniface and Concordia Hospitals for their amazing care and compassion. Those wishing to make a donation in her name may do so to Holy Family Home or Misericordia Health Centre Foundation. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193
