Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • George was well acquainted with our family while we lived in the area for almost 20 years, and was one of the truly good people I can proudly say to have known. He was a very knowledgeable man, even outside of his fields of expertise, and my late father treasured his friendship as much, if not more, than anyone else's. His wisdom and kindness will be missed. - Posted by: Robert Hollins (Friend) on: Feb 07, 2012

  • George and I first met while we were serving on Council in our respective municipalities. Since George had already served a term as Reeve in the R.M. of Alexander before I was elected Reeve in the R.M. of Lac du Bonnet, he served as a mentor for me in so many ways. I had the pleasure of nominating George to the position of District Director (Rural) during the Eastern District Meeting of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM)in 2003. George was a strong advocate for eastern Manitoba and a force to be reckoned with on the AMM Board of Directors. George Harbottle was a true friend who was not backwards about being forward. He recognized crap when he heard it and was not afraid to say so. The good ones leave us far too early. I will miss you, George. Our sincerest condolences go out to Susanne and the rest of George's family. - Posted by: Don Halbert (Friend) on: Feb 07, 2012

  • I met George over 25 years ago when I would visit his Driver Licence Agency in Powerview representing the Motor Vehicle Branch. What a character. I so enjoyed our discussions/debates and how he lived life. I always thought of him as a good friend and a gentleman. Vince and Bridget you are in my thoughts. - Posted by: Donna Meyer (Friend) on: Feb 07, 2012
