REGINA SYLVESTRE (nee GEORGE) November 6, 1914 - February 12, 2012 It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of Regina, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on February 12, 2012 at Foyer Valade at the age of 97. After a long and happy life with family and friends, she peacefully slipped away from our hands to the hands of the Lord. Regina was born in Bellegarde, Saskatchewan on November 6, 1914. She married her beloved husband, Albert Sylvestre, on October 16, 1940 and together they farmed the land until 1952 when they moved to Winnipeg with their two daughters. Everyone knew she had a heart filled with kindness and unconditional love. She was dedicated to her faith which sustained her throughout life's trials and tribulations. She cherished time spent in the company of her children, spouses, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Her creativity was best expressed through her knitting and crocheting. Her creations helped keep her family members warm during cold winter months and her crocheted tablecloths adorned dining room tables throughout many family gatherings. She was an avid card player and remained sharp until the end. This was evident in her trademark smile after laying down a winning hand. She is survived by two daughters, Arlette (Denis) Bourbonniere and Claudia (Marcel) Blanchette; five grandchildren, Robert (Beverley), Chantal (Edward) Fortier; Serge (Nathalie), Colin (Amber) and Joel (Lisa); four great-grandchildren, Nicole, Stephane, Breelle and Julien; sister-in-law, Suzanne George and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, on January 23, 1993 and her nine siblings. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Foyer Valade for the wonderful care they provided her during the last 15 months. Their compassion was comforting and very much appreciated. A funeral service to celebrate Regina's life will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at St.Boniface Cathedrale at 1:30 p.m. with viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Green Acres Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949

- Posted by: Paulette Vandale (Normandeau) (neighbor) on: Feb 18, 2012
