Frieda was born in Waldheim Ukraine, January 1, 1921, and came to Canada with her family in 1925. Following the death of her father at Mather, Manitoba, in 1929, Frieda, her mother, along with her brother and one sister moved to Altona. Shortly after that Frieda and her mother moved to Winnipeg to live with Frieda's two sisters Jessie and Helen Pauls. For a period of time in the 1970s and 1980s Frieda was employed at Donwood Manor where she greatly enjoyed both her work as well as her interaction with the residents. Upon Frieda's retirement and following the death of her sister Jessie, Frieda moved to Donwood Independent Living where she made many close friends. When Frieda was in her early eighties, due to failing health, she moved to Donwood Personal Care where she was greatly loved by all who cared for her. Frieda will be remembered for her genuine love and acceptance of people. Frieda was predeceased by her parents, Franz and Helena Pauls; stepfather, Johann Martens; sister Jessie Pauls; brother Frank Pauls and his wife Corrie; sister Zelma Horch and her husband Albert; and her sister Helen Pauls. Frieda will be sadly missed by her many nephews and nieces and their families. Frieda was a long time member of the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church.
