Josephine was born April 17, 1925 in Strathclair, Manitoba and spent her childhood in Elphinstone, Manitoba. She married the love of her life, John Gulchak of Sandy Lake in 1946. After 10 years of farming, John and Josephine moved to Winnipeg with their two children Don and Sylvia. Besides being a dedicated and loving mother, Josephine worked in the powder room at the Hudson Bay store for a number of years and then for the Stylerite Wholesale for 25 years retiring in 1990. Josephine enjoyed gardening, canning, berry picking, camping, boating, reading, and bingo. She was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in preparing meals especially for traditional gatherings at Christmas Eve and Easter. After retirement, John and Josephine became active members of New Horizon's Seniors Group at the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. After John's passing, Josephine moved to the Luther Home apartment at 1080 Powers where she enjoyed the next three years with her many new found friends and buddies Hilda and Ollie. Family meant everything to mom - we were always placed first. Mom loved her grandchildren dearly and her great- grandchildren were the pride of her life.
