I had heard of the fatal cycling accident on Tuesday and wondered who it was. I was shocked to hear it was one of our own from the cycling club. It was such a preventable tragedy. Arnie was an amazing man and cyclist. He was a great motivator and I will miss his positive attitude. Why are all the good ones taken before their time? Rest in peace fellow cyclist! - Posted by: Barb Madden (Winnipeg Clyling Club member) on: Mar 24, 2012

My young sons were teary eyed when they heard of the passing of Mr. Johnsrud. ``He's the man that always waved to us on the path beside the house when we were playing outside''. Our prayers are with the whole Johnsrud family. - Posted by: MS (Neighbor) on: Mar 24, 2012

Arne was a gentleman, role model and a kindly humorous fellow-cyclist. Arne wanted to cycle forever. Thank you; and go, Arne, go. - Posted by: Lea Stogdale (Fellow cyclist with Winnipeg Cycling Club) on: Mar 23, 2012

I was fortunate to meet Arne through the Habitat for Humanity Cycle of Hope bike tour in which we participated for several years. Despite the variety of challenging conditions that we would experience on the tours Arne was always pleasant and supportive of the group and the efforts everyone was making to participate in the rides and help Habitat on its mission to improve housing conditions in our community. His determination and positive attitude was a testimony to his strength and dedication as a gentleman and a cyclist. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. - Posted by: Gord Steindel (Cycling Acquaintance) on: Mar 23, 2012

What a sad loss for our neighbourhood and community. I already miss seeing Arne out on his recumbant bike with his dog walking along beside him. He was out there bright & early everyday that it was possible to ride. Our hearts & prayers go out to his wife & family. - Posted by: Peter & Monica Pytel (Neighbor & Friend) on: Mar 22, 2012

We knew Arne mostly as our neighbour and friend next door. He was a fixture in Lorette and area well known for riding his 3 wheeler bike with his trusting dog running along side him. Always friendly to us, we'll not forget you, Kathy and Doug - Posted by: Doug and Kathy Stephens (neighbour and friend) on: Mar 22, 2012

A sad time indeed. Arne was an amazing man and Cyclist. In the spring he would already have hundreds of kilometres on his bike while the rest of us were just thinking of starting. May you ride forever on the road to everywhere my friend. - Posted by: George Sinclair (Cycling Friend) on: Mar 22, 2012

It was with great sadness and disbelief I heard of Arne's passing from a mutual friend and fellow cyclist. I met Arne through membership in the Winnipeg Cycling Club. His love for cycling, his concern for safe cycling, his participation in club functions, his support and friendship while cycling long distances will hold Arne in good stead in my memories. You will be missed by all who knew you. God bless, good friend. Sincerely, Nina Tackaberry - Posted by: Nina Tackaberry (Friend and Fellow Cyclist) on: Mar 22, 2012

Although I haven't seen Arne for years, I knew him as a good, honest, fun-loving and hard-working man. As a kid I remember how he loved to tease this younger, red-haired cousin any time he got a chance. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to all of the families. There are no words to express our sadness. So long Arne. May you rest in peace. Love and strength to the family. - Posted by: Lawrie & Marianne ( Larson) Sundin (2nd cousin) on: Mar 22, 2012

I first met Arne in 2005 when I joined the Cycling Club. He was a great mentor to those of us just starting and has helped me through a few tough rides. I haven't met a more dedicated or ambitious cyclist. Even on tour rides south of the border, Arne was always mentioned by members of the tour who had the pleasure of riding with him in previous years. He was a welcome addition to our cycling group for many years. Good bye friend and may you forever rest in peace. - Posted by: Daniel Topham (Cycling friend with Winnipeg Cycling Club) on: Mar 22, 2012

We are all so sorry to hear of Arne's passing. I had no idea he lived so close to me. My husband who was an avid cyclist would have loved to know him. Condolences from my father Harvey and mother Senja too. They were both sad to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Karen (Larson) Loewen (cousin) on: Mar 22, 2012
