ELEANOR (ERNA) STEWART February 25, 1919 March 29, 2012 Peacefully on March 29, 2012 Eleanor (Erna) passed away at Tudor House in Selkirk, MB, at the age of 93 years. She leaves behind two daughters Beverly (Chris) and Donna (Philip); five grandchildren Laurelle, Kevin, Raeleen (Brian), Amanda (Colin), and Rebecca (Andy); six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Branden, Clay, Carson and Brooke; sisters, Tillie, Elsie, Christine, Hilda, Esther, brothers, Herman and Robert. Eleanor met the love of her life Allan Stewart in 1940; they went on to enjoy 65 years of marriage until Allan's death in 2005. Eleanor was born in Ashern, MB on February 25, 1919 to John and Julia Henkel; she was the seventh child in a family of 18 children. Family was one of the most important things in her life. Her unfailing love and devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be a cherished memory. She will be remembered for her vibrant sense of humor along with her abundant charm. As a foster mom for many years, her love of people all ages was highly evident. Eleanor was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for over 70 years. Her faith gave her much comfort in her last days (John 5:28-29). The family would like to thank the staff at Tudor House for their exceptionally kind and compassionate care of Eleanor. She had mentioned many times how much she enjoyed the special care she received. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12 Hawthorne Pl., Selkirk, officiated by Mr. Richard Downing.
