HENRICA STORIMANS Our Loving Wife, Mom, Grandmom and Great-Grandmom passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Mom and Dad and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were able to spend time together during her precious final days. Left to cherish Mom's memory are: Joseph, her husband of 62 years. Children: Adrian (Patricia), Joseph, Jeffrey, Jason (Dianna), Valerie (Trent); Ann, (Delwin); Robert (Brenda), Scott, Corey; Elizabeth (Mike), Jeremy, Stephen, Breanne; Margaret (Garry), Aleesha, Chelsey; Mary (Rob), Michelle (Drew); Cathy, Sean and great-grandchildren: Christopher, Alyssa, Geoffrey, Trevor and Kaitlyn. Sisters: Anne and Frances from Australia. Sister Tonnie and brother Jan from Holland and many nieces and nephews. Henrica Martina van Valkenburg was born on June 22, 1926 in den Bosch, The Netherlands. She was part of a very large family which she enjoyed. She went on to have a large family of her own. In 1942 during the war years, Henrica met Joseph Storimans from nearby Tilburg, who would become her husband. She loved her job as a sales person in a toy store and saved her money to buy wedding outfits, pots and pans and other necessities for their marriage in 1949. When Henrica was 31 years of age, she and Joseph immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with five children and one on the way, a decision they never regretted. They learned English from their children and Henrica became an exceptionally fast reader in her second language. She loved to knit and make cross-stitch, etc. that adorn her children's and grandchildren's homes. She was fond of watching figure skating live and on television. Her garden flourished under her care and so did the hummingbirds that she enjoyed watching from her kitchen. Family always came first even during her final days. Many of the grandchildren took turns joining Mom and Dad on their trips to Alberta. In the summer of 1994, they went with their son Robert and his two sons Scott and Corey on a six week camping adventure to Alaska. Another special trip was with their two grandchildren Joseph and Jeffrey to The Netherlands. A funeral service for Henrica will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road. Family is the hallmark of Henrica's life! She will be sadly missed and cherished in our memories forever. The Storimans family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff on Ward 3 East at Concordia Hospital. It was Henrica's wish that contributions be made to the Parkinson's Society, in lieu of flowers.
