Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYNN GIBB Lynn Gibb of Winnipeg, aged 73, died last Thursday, April 5, 2012 peacefully among close family members. Lynn was born in Winnipeg on February 28, 1939 to the late Anne and James Gibb Sr. A lifelong career working woman and mother, she had a passion for doing the best at whatever she tried to do. She was a top level amateur figure skater in younger years up to high school and professional figure skater with Ice Capades and Ice Follies from 1958 thru 1964. Lynn moved to the Chicago area with her son Dean in 1964, and was married to Sten Ekstrom from 1966 to 1984. In the Chicago area, she entered the publishing business initially as an administrative assistant and worked up to level of editor working with companies such Crane Communications, Chicago Sun-Times and Advertising Age. Within that time she continued her involvement in figure skating and ice dancing as an instructor and coach. Moving back to Winnipeg in 1985, she primarily worked at the Workman's Compensation Board up into late 2009 as an administrator. She continued to skate and ice dance up until ten years ago. Lynn is survived by her son Dean Ekstrom of Vancouver, brother James Gibb Jr., niece Cassie Gibb, nephew James Gibb Jr., cousins Terry Gibb and Patricia Gibb along with other various cousins and friends such as her close and supportive friend Xenia French in her building at 55 Garry Street, where Lynn had lived the last 17 years. Private family services were held earlier last week.
