ANNIE CHEEKIE Early morning on April 13, 2012 our beautiful mother Annie Cheekie suddenly passed on to meet her Creator and is now soaring with the eagles. Annie leaves Gerald McLaverty father of her loving daughter Tara Campbell, son-in-law Chris Campbell, granddaughter Faedra and her loving son Jason McLaverty. Anne is predeceased by her mother, Mary Thorassie, father Sandy Cheekie, brother Gordon, sisters Nancy and Eva and nephew Cedar Cheekie. Annie is also survived by her brothers, Johnny and Alex Cheekie, Thomas Thompson, her sisters Chris Mills, Caroline and Jean Cheekie, nieces and nephews, Siobhan Cheekie, Carla Torras, Sandy, Janice, Matthew and Jessie Anne McKay, Terry, Ricky and Corey Cheekie, Dalyn, April, Charles, Chelsea Cheekie, Gerri Zacharias, Thomas, Stephen and Allison Crilly Born in Churchill, Manitoba on August 3, 1954 Annie is a member of the Sayisi Dene First Nation and spent her early years in Churchill, Manitoba. Annie was an artist and a passionate teacher who had the pleasure of teaching many students. There will be a Funeral Mass held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Victoria, BC.

  • I just read about Annie's passing in the August Manitoban and was shocked. Annie and I spent 4 years togethr studying for our Industrial Arts degrees. As the only females in our class we had a strong bond. I always admired her artistic talents. I will always associate her with moon clouds.
