ROGER ALPHONSE JOSEPH TINANT 1918 - 2012 Our beloved husband and father Roger passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Left forever to cherish his memory are his loving wife Rita, of 51 years, daughter Lola (Faron), and sons Richard, Ben (Jean) and Mark (Tamara). Left also to miss him are his nine grandchildren: Norman, Amanda, Jamie, Justin, Chris, Matthew, Madeline, Rebecca and Nolan, and his great-grandchildren: Lukas, Koby, Drew, Rowin, Ace, Cadence, Dakotta, Ryland and Taylor. Roger also leaves behind his sisters: Henriette (Linde), Marie (George) and Terri (Norm), and sister-in-law Eli. He is predeceased by his brother Robert. Roger's memory will also always be special to numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Roger was born December 8, 1918 in Grande Clairiere, MB. The eldest of five children he attended Maple Hill School and helped out on the family farm. The family moved to Lac du Bonnet due to repeated droughts when he was 15 years of age. Roger joined the army at the age of 22 and served five years in the 3rd Battery, 5th Anti-Tank Regiment, as a Gunner. Roger was decorated for his services in Artillery and saw active duty in four countries overseas. Following the Second World War Roger worked as a school caretaker, bus driver, plumber, before he found his calling as a bee-keeper. One of his helpers said, He never worked for a kinder boss . Roger met his wife Rita in Winnipeg and married her July 2, 1960. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, talking on his C.B., trips to Hawaii, farming and a good visit (even with a stranger). He was known as a man happy to do someone a favour and not expect anything in return. His kindness will always be remembered. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care given to Roger by the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home and East Gate Lodge. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14 at the Lac du Bonnet Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's memory may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, Box 1030, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0.
