LARRY GIESBRECHT
Born: Mar 21, 1950
Date of Passing: May 14, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLARRY GIESBRECHT Larry Giesbrecht born March 21, 1950, passed away May 14, 2012. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Martha, of 40 years, their children Michelle and Paul, Nelson and Jenni, Perry and Aubrey, grandchildren Joshua, Annalyn, Owen and Jane. Also mourning Larry's passing is his mother Margaret, brother Gord and Cathy, sisters Shirley and Merv, Elaine and Arnold as well as his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Larry was predeceased by his father Gord. Larry was a loving husband, a devoted father, and an avid truck driver. He retired from Winnipeg Transit in 2004, and went back to trucking without missing a beat. However, as much as he was interested in trucks, he was more interested in people. Larry loved life and enjoyed spending time chit-chatting with family and friends. When talking with you, Larry would make you feel like you were the most interesting and valued person in the room. His laughter and his smile will always be remembered. He lived his life by Jesus' example and his faith spoke through his actions. Larry's straightforward, honest, hard-working approach to life was appreciated by all. He will be greatly missed. Catch you on the flip-flop. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Blumenort EMC Church. Viewing is Friday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.

I, Joe, worked with Larry at Transit for many years, and also knew him from Grant. Larry retired the same year as I did. We were away on a trip and returned today and were very sorry to hear the news about Larry. There was a fellow on this same trip who looked so much like Larry, and everytime we saw him we thought of Larry. Our deepest sympathy to you Martha and your family. - Posted by: Joe and Adella Novak (Friends) on: Jun 04, 2012

Sorry for your loss, I met Larry shortly after I started as a driver at transit. He took the time talk to a rookie driver and we had coffee many times together as part of a group of driver's who hung out for a bit before or after shifts. Tons of laughter always. 'He' moves in mysterious ways. I'm sure there's a Merle Haggard or Buck Owens song that's playing now in Larry's honor, "roll truck roll take me to my baby I gotta make it home tonight..." - Posted by: tim stones (co-worker at transit) on: May 24, 2012

I first got to know and appreciate Larry when he sold his father's amazing farmer sausage to us at the Credit Union--as staff, we bought hundreds of pounds to enjoy at home with our families. His friendliness and "up beatness" was always a highlight of any meeting I had with him ever since. My most sincere symapthy goes out to the family, especially Nelson, who became a good friend of my daughters. - Posted by: Herb Neufeld (Friend) on: May 17, 2012
