KENNETH RUTLEDGE Surrounded by his loving family, Ken Rutledge passed away peacefully on May 25, 2012. His kind and gentle spirit will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife, Kristin; children, Gwen (Dale Streich), Jan (Denis Janz), Jeff (friend Laurie), Grace (Karl Maier) and Suzanne; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Jenkins) and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, three brothers Elmer, Iner and Dana, and sister Olive (Thorvaldson). Ken was born on February 23, 1930 in Bancroft, Ontario. He moved to Hnausa, Manitoba in 1946 where he met and married Kristin Johnson. Ken worked for the Manitoba Government, Department of Highways in the Interlake, Selkirk and Steinbach areas for 42 years, retiring in 1993. Ken's greatest joy was his family. With them, he shared and passed on his love of nature, gardening, special family times at the cottage and the importance of helping one another. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed. The family thanks Anne Plett, Palliative Care Team Leader for her compassion and support. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Ken's memory may be made to South Eastman Palliative Care Program, P.O. I always admired Mr. Rutledge when we all lived in Selkirk my mom cherished her friendship with Kristine and Ken.
