Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Some years ago Dave, together with Val, Reinell and Anders spent some hours with a number of our family here in Oslo, Norway. Keeping in touch by mail with Val and Reinell since 1997, I felt I knew them a bit. But at this visit I also discovered what kind of person Dave was. His energy, ability to listen and his caring for other people was very obvious. I felt I had known him all my life. I also felt your struggles through his illness, and I know that you will take good care of the good memories. My deepest condolences to all of you! - Posted by: Bjørn Lindquist (Norwegian relative) on: Jun 29, 2012

  • I met him once when he came on a short visit to Norway together with Val, Reinell and Anders. A number of our family spent a few, but memorable hours together, and I remember that Dave was a person very easy to like. His energy, his ability to listen and his caring for other people was very obvious. Keeping in touch with Val and Reinell by mail since 1997 (I think), I have felt connected to the family in spite of the distance between us. Somehow I also felt the struggle for everybody through Dave's illness. It it hard to think that this high spirited person is not among you anymore. But keep you memories, I will keep mine! • I remember a man some years eagerly waving from the boat coming from Copenhagen arriving Oslo someone. The man appeared to be Dave coming with Val, Reinell and Anders on a short visit to Norway. A number of our family showed up, and we spent some hours together this memorable day. It struck me that Dave gave us all the impression that we had known him all our lives. His energy, already shown by his waving, his ability to listen and his caring for other people was very obvious. A man that was very easy to like. Through the mail correspondence with Val and Reinell since 1997 I also felt very connected to the family, and my thoughts - Posted by: Bjørn Lindquist (Norwegian relative) on: Jun 29, 2012

  • I first met Dave out on the line on the CN Sheridan Sub in 1985. Over the years we had occasion to meet a couple times in the north and more around Winnipeg. Dave always had a quick with a welcome smile and was very much at home in the north. Dave's friendship was always appreciated for his expertise and his willingness to help whenever and wherever he was needed. Dave will always be remembered as one of those professional railroaders and as a gentleman who made difficult situations manageable and our days brighter. My sincere condolences to Val and the family. - Posted by: Gordon Rybuck (Co-Worker CN Rail) on: Jun 27, 2012

  • Val and family, George enjoyed the years he worked with and for Dave and talks of those times with great fondness. We both enjoyed our visits with you and Dave this past year or so. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all Val at this very sad time. God bless you all. - Posted by: George & Pat Dare (Friend & former co-worker as well as employee) on: Jun 23, 2012
