IRENE REID On June 21, 2012, the 72nd anniversary of their wedding, Irene slipped away to join her beloved husband Allan. With family at her side, she gently and quietly left this life - just the way she lived it. She was predeceased by Allan, son Wayne, sisters Doris and Lil and sisters-in-law Verna and Doreen. Left to remember her loving and caring way are daughters Carol Pucci (Wayne), Sherry O'Connor (Pat), son Bob (Paulette). Grandchildren Sherri (Ernie), Ryan, Lyndsey, Trevor (Kelly), Tyler (Carolyn), Nathan and great-grandchildren Annalea and Cruz. Mom was born in Debden Saskatchewan, March 17, 1918, growing up in Prince Albert where she met Dad at a dance. They married in 1940 before he was posted for army training. Dad's banking career took the family of four briefly to Saskatoon and then on to Winnipeg in 1953 where the two "youngest" were added. 1964 took them to Kenora and a busy ten years of church and community service before returning to Winnipeg. Many good friends were made along the way. Mom was a dedicated member of the Lionelles, as well as bowling clubs both in Kenora and Winnipeg until into her 80s. It was a known fact that she would drop anything and everything for a good game of Bridge or Canasta with friends. She passed on her enjoyment of card games by teaching various games to her grandchildren. Having the family together at home or at the cottage at West Hawk meant a great deal to her. Throughout her life Mom enjoyed gardening and sewing and was often seen with a broom in her hand. Our family would like to thank all the dedicated staff at Meadowood Manor for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Mom. Her comfort there showed in the radiant smile she so readily gave. A celebration of Irene's life will be held on Friday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Interment will follow immediately after mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. So sorry to learn about the passing of your mom. While visiting the " West Hawk Reid family cabin" a few years ago, we were entertained with many family stories and a few laughs. I hope that as you relive some of those memories, they are with joy and peace. - Posted by: Jan and jim Corner (friends of Bob and Paulette, Calgary) on: Jun 27, 2012
