MARY HUEBERT May 16, 1924 - July 9, 2012 Mary Huebert passed away at Concordia Hospital after a fall and broken hip. Predeceased by her parents Jacob and Katherine (Penner) Huebert, and older brothers David, Jacob and John (Tena). Mary will be fondly remembered by nieces Linda (Alfred) Hecht, Ruth (Willie) Loewen and nephew John Huebert. She was Great-Aunt to Marvin (Deborah) Hecht, Melinda (Albert) Hecht-Enns, Sylvia Loewen (Kirk Cook), Robert (Susanna) Loewen, Randy (Annette) Loewen, Chrystal Huebert and Tiffany Huebert, and Great-Great-Aunt to Max and Dylan Hecht, Rebecca, Joseph and Elizabeth Hecht-Enns, Ethan and Gavin Loewen, Olivia Cook, Jack and Sophia Loewen, Tyana Huebert. Mary came to Canada with her family in 1925 at the age of one. After several years on the farm, they moved to Winnipeg, where Mary became a baptized member of the South End Mennonite Brethren Church. She worked many years at Independent Credit Jewellers, then completed a B.A. at University of Manitoba (United College). Following that she did accounting work for the Manitoba Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Church, retiring from here. Mary then enjoyed her volunteer work at WASO (Work and Social Opportunities organization), and the new friends she made here. For almost two years she enjoyed living at Kildonan House on Edison Avenue. She cherished her family, especially all the little ones, whom she called the Munchkins . A service to honour Mary's life will take place at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing prior. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care of Mary. For those who wish, donations may be made to Family Life Network or Mennonite Central Committee - Children's Orphanages in the Ukraine, available at the service.
