Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYLVIA MARIE LOGIE (nee KONIUCK) August 2, 1933 - July 31, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sylvia's peaceful passing at the Seven Oaks General Hospital on July 31, 2012. Sylvia was predeceased by her loving parents, Stephie (Gwizon) and Steve Koniuck, and by her sister Sonia Halick. Left to mourn her passing are Sylvia's brother and sister-in-law Roy (Ollie) Koniuck; brother-in-law Adam Halick; nieces Jill, Angel (Julien), Lainie (Fred); nephews Jason (Diana), Adam (Anita), Casey; great-nieces Jazzy, Lydia, Brooklyn; great-nephews Cooper, Jesse, Joey, Tyler; cousins Albert (Helen), Rudy, Brian (Norma), Alan (Bonnie); and numerous family friends. Sylvia was employed by Canada Trust during the mid 1960s and Montreal Trust in the 1970s. There, she worked as an Investment Officer and enjoyed fun times after hours with her co-workers, including her little Scottish friend Margaret Donenfeld, with whom she would share a 42-year friendship. After many long hours of additional study and personal commitment, Sylvia settled into new challenges as and Income Tax Officer in the Office of the Public Trustee of Manitoba, until her retirement in 1995. Throughout her lifetime, Sylvia loved to draw and paint (favoring landscapes), read many books, and solve the most challenging crossword puzzles. She enjoyed playing card games like Rummy, or even laughing through a round of Balderdash with her nieces and nephews. Sylvia was also known to hit a golf ball or two when she was younger. She traveled to New Orleans, spent an extended time at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, and even journeyed to Florida with the girls . Sylvia delighted in spending many summers at her sanctuary in Sandy Hook, Manitoba. She was best known for her wry sense of humour and her resilience, always bouncing back from everything that life threw her way. It would be fair to say that she lived life on her own terms. In keeping with Sylvia's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street in Winnipeg, on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 12:00 noon, with lunch to follow, and conclude with the interment of her ashes at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donation in Sylvia's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
