RALPH RAYMOND MILLER November 16, 1929 - August 22, 2012 Ralph (husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend) died Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the age of 82 years, finally at peace. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, parents Marjorie Miller and William Miller, sister Geraldine Bugden, brother Roger Miller and daughter-in-law Pam. Ralph will be remembered in the hearts of his children Guy (Julie), Lori Volkart (Gord), Jeff (Sarah), Glen, Clint (Sandra), Susan Neuendorff (Mark) and Jodi Kryschuk (Brent); grandchildren Sean and Aaron Miller, Joel Volkart (Meghan Smith), Chelsea Volkart, Lance Miller (Jen), Tanya Bargenda (Kevin), Jaylene Miller, Jade and Jessica Neuendorff, Allison and Noah Kryschuk; great-grandchildren Tristan and Taya Miller, and sister Maxine (Vern) McComas. Ralph was born in Dauphin, Manitoba but lived much of his childhood in Elmwood. He married Jean in 1951, and together they raised seven children. Their household at 118 Linden Ave. was often filled with friends and family; Ralph and Jean were always fun to be around! In 1974 they bought a cottage at Grand Beach, and the party and the renovation work moved down to the lake. We all have cherished memories of the time spent at the cottage and many of the kids still gather at the beach for holidays. Dad loved his family and particularly enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren with his private stock . Ralph worked at the C.N.R. for 42 years, retiring at age 60 but also held many other part time jobs to support his family. He was a member of the Elmwood Legion and the Masons. He was an outdoors guy, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and curling with the Elmwood Legion, and in his retirement he enjoyed going out with his collection of friends. Dad struggled with dementia in his later years, but fought hard right till the end. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff at Concordia Hospital, particularly Tyler, Joelle and Jodi for their care and compassion during Ralph's final days, and the wonderful support Dad received from Dawn at Kildonan Personal Care Home. A celebration of Ralph's life will be held on September 6, at the Nor Villa Hotel, 1763 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph's memory may be made to the Concordia Hospital at Concordia Foundation Inc., 1095 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S8.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • He's in a better place right now than he's ever been before; all pain is gone; he's now at rest; nothing troubles him anymore. It's we who feel the burden of our sadness and our grief; we have to cry, to mourn our loss, before we get relief. We know we'll reconnect with him at the end of each life's road; we'll see his cherished face again when we release our earthly load. - Posted by: He's in a better place right now than he's ever been before; All pain is gone; he's now at rest; not (Lori's friend) on: Sep 04, 2012

  • Ralph & Jean raised a wonderful family, who are a living legacy to their love and devotion. He is surely proud of the whole Miller clan! May he rest in God's peace. - Posted by: Jim Brook (former neighbor on Linden Ave) on: Sep 04, 2012
