Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDY (JOSEPHINE) BUCHANAN (nee BENNETT) 1921 - 2012 Peacefully on September 2, 2012, Judy Buchanan passed away at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home. She is the beloved stepmom to Grant (Linda) Buchanan of The Pas, Doreen (Robin) Light of Winnipeg and Roger (Linda) Buchanan of Winnipeg. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Judy was predeceased by her husband Percy, mother Josephine, father Thomas and sister Margaret. Judy was born in Winnipeg, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Home Economics Degree and furthered her education at Columbia University in New York City. She worked for various health services as a dietician and assisted Drs. Banting and Best in Toronto with their research into the feasibility of controlling type 2 diabetes through diet alone. Returning to Winnipeg, Judy worked for St. Boniface Hospital and the Victorian Order of Nurses retiring with Percy to Lac du Bonnet where she continued her dietician work with various personal care homes in the area. It would be very difficult to find a more caring, accepting, non-judgemental person. Rest in peace and know you were loved. The family will be holding a private service. I have fond memories of both Judy and Percy. I would often sit with them in the morning at Woody's as they enjoyed their morning coffee. Their stories were always interesting and I truly enjoyed them. I pursued my degree in nutrition from the faculty of Human Ecology at the University of Manitoba as well. It may have been in part because of the many discussions we had over coffee. I will remember both Judy and Percy fondly. - Posted by: Leyan Hnatishin () on: Dec 10, 2012

So sorry to hear about Judy. Considered her a friend when she lived in this area and enjoyed her visits to my store. I will remember her fondly. - Posted by: Sheri Weselak (Store Owner in LDB ) on: Sep 11, 2012
