SYLVIA TAYLOR (nee CAMPBELL) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Taylor. Sylvia was a breast cancer survivor who also fought a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Stacey and son-in-law Bill, grandson Daniel, granddaughters Tonya and Kim and great-granddaughter Livia, as well as her sister Jackie. Sylvia was a long-time resident of Winnipeg and spent the last years of her life at Fred Douglas Lodge, as a resident of the independent apartment complex as well as a resident of the care home. She spent most of her life working as an accountant in both Winnipeg and for a few years in Burnaby, B.C. She took early retirement to care for her ailing mother and to be a fantastic grandmother to her three grandchildren, spending a lot of time volunteering at their elementary school, helping with the lunch program. She loved animals, especially cats. She loved to take her cats for walks and to visit the friends she had made at Fred Douglas Lodge. The family would like to thank the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for all the care and compassion they have shown to Sylvia as well as her family for the last few years. The staff at Fred Douglas Lodge are the reason she transitioned so well from her apartment to the care home. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in her honour at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada at bcsc.ca or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba at alzheimer.mb.ca.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Stacey and family. It is very sad to read of your Mom's passing today. She was truly a most loving Mom to you and I'm sure she was that and more to your children. I remember many good times living on Cairnsmore St; She made sure you had a full and happy childhood from dancing, skating, concerts, gymnastics, and so much more, always including Jan in many of your adventures. You were the love of her life. My sincere sympathy in your loss. She will be missed. Sylvia Gurniak - Posted by: Sylvia Gurniak (friend/neighbour) on: Oct 20, 2012
