EVELYN KATHLEEN DOWNES (nee STERTZ) November 24, 1934 October 23, 2012 It is with great sadness after a lengthy illness, Evelyn passed away surrounded by many of her family members on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her loving husband Jack of 57 years, her son Tim (Colleen), grandchildren Richard (Lacy), Jeffery (Holly) and great-grandchildren Stathen and Declan, sister Lenore, brother Norman (Anne) and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, David and Elizabeth Stertz. Evelyn was born November 24, 1934. In her younger years, Evelyn was a Sunday school teacher at the United Church. She also enjoyed being convenor of the Seniors Ladies Group of the United Church and as President of Springfield Lending Library where she would get books from University of Manitoba for students in the Springfield municipality. Evelyn will be sadly missed by all who knew her for her gentle, caring spirit and kindness to everyone she came in contact with. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Evelyn's memory.
