MARILYN HARRIS
Born: Sep 21, 1954
Date of Passing: Oct 23, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN HARRIS September 21, 1954 - October 23, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Harris. Leaving to mourn Marilyn's memory are her son, Michael Hall, and her daughter Nicole Hall, her parents Jack and Francine Harris, her siblings Rod (Tricia), Wayne (Evelyn), Carol (John), Roger (Gwen), David (Leigh-Anne), and many nephews, nieces and friends. A lifetime educator who was fluently bilingual, Marilyn taught in schools in Winnipeg and Germany. She worked with the Department of Education developing curriculum in Fredericton, and also instructed teachers in Haiti. Marilyn had a soft spot for the poor children in Haiti. This prompted her to organize the collection of school supplies, which were sent to the impoverished schools there. She also loved those around her. The care and generosity that she offered to her family and friends will be sorely missed. Her love of travel was legendary. She enjoyed trips to Europe, China, Russia, or lengthy Canadian camping trips with her children. Another favourite destination was Quebec City. Memorial service Monday, October 29, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue, Winnipeg.

I never met your mom in person but I did write to her for family tree info. I am your dad's aunt and I live in B.C. I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing and I know this is a hard time for you and your sister Nicole. - Posted by: Joyce Andersen (Great aunt) on: Nov 05, 2012

I am so sorry to hear of Marilyn's death. We worked together one summer for the Department of Recreation, and became instant friends. After 18 years of friendship we lost touch when she moved to New Brunswick. I pray that the children will always be guided by their Mom's remarkable spirit. - Posted by: Tom Dojack (Friend) on: Oct 30, 2012

Marilyn and I began our teaching careers at Lincoln School in St. James. She was a close friend for many years. I remember Marilyn having a love for life...she loved adventures and always wanted to learn more. I am deeply sorry to hear about her death. - Posted by: Joanne O'Leary (friend) on: Oct 29, 2012

Harris / Hall families: Marilyn was one of the first people I met in the MBA program in Fredericton - she said it was the 9th university she had attended! She was certainly a brilliant person and loved to learn! Over the years, we remained friends and were in book club and dinner club together, and Marilyn was always lots of fun, full of adventures, and life. She loved her children, Mike and Nicole, and her family more than anything. May God comfort you and sustain you through your loss. - Posted by: Karen and Dave Finley (Friends from Fredericton) on: Oct 29, 2012

Our thoughts and prayers are with Marilyn's children Michael and Nicole as well as her family. Marilyn was in our Dinner club in Fredericton and was well known for her fondue dinners. She was also in my book club and chose several interesting and unique books for discussion. She was a beautiful and intelligent lady. We will miss her. - Posted by: Donna & Pierre Mullin (Friends from Fredericton (dinner club and book club)) on: Oct 29, 2012

One thing we may know with certainty: God's grace is far beyond our own understanding. May God's grace rest eternally upon Marilyn, as well as those who knew and loved her and who now mourn her loss. Our lives may be limited, but God's grace is forever. - Posted by: Jake VanderKooy () on: Oct 29, 2012

Dear Harris Family, Oh my goodness. I'm so shocked and very very saddened to hear about Marilyn's sudden death..... you must be in shock, tears and disbelief. After hearing the news I've been thinking of you all and want to pass my sympathy and love to you with this note.... I've also been thinking of Marilyn, a good friend in our younger days, she was so amazing and she loved life to the fullest, full of energy doing many great things.....Such as school and university with her goals and ambitions...Her love for Piano playing...,dancing, I remember doing the Virginia reel at your barn dance....Furniture restoration and antiques, I remember her making me finish one of her refurbished bookcases after a hard days roofing with Rod and the guys,.....I understand that she has had some health difficulties lately and now sadly she is gone, Resting in Peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior....Still it leaves a giant hole in your family as you grieve this great loss of Marilyn....Passing my love, respect and great appreciation to your family. I pray the Lord Strengthen you.. May the beginning of each new day bring healing to help ease your deep sorrow... Love Harold - Posted by: Harold Beugelink (Friend of Harris Family.) on: Oct 28, 2012

Our son Nat was a great friend of Mikes' when the Harris/Hall family lived in Fredericton. We had a great skiing trip to sugarloaf the year the family moved back to Winnipeg. We have very fond memories of this trip and of the entire family. We were very sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing and our hearts go out to Michael and to Nicole. Take care. Lise, Al, Nat and Caroline. - Posted by: Carson family (Friend) on: Oct 27, 2012
