Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • We will always remember John as the "glamour boy" of the family. Despite the fact that we did not see much of him over the years while he was in Canada, his sisters always remember him as a fun loving man who loved the simple things in life. He was a brilliant trumpeter and drum major of the Launceston Boys Band for a number of years. We particularly remember him today (Nov 11th) as he was frequently called upon to play the Last Post at the memorial service in Launceston. We were deeply disappointed when he made the decision to further his career as an engineer overseas. His visits to Tasmania over the years were eagerly anticipated by his family and were always filled with lots of laughter and fun and will always be remembered. He loved Australia and the Australian "way of life" and particularly his home state of Tasmania dearly. All of his sisters (Gwen,Dorothy(dec) and Phyllis), brother-in-law (Max), together with their children and their families loved him dearly and will never forget him. - Posted by: Phyllis Patman (Youngest sister) on: Nov 12, 2012

  • In 1990 we joined Pat and John on a trip to Australia. We met much of John's family. That trip was one of the most memorable trips we have taken. We would all recall the suprising cable car experience with laughter. Not to mention John boldly heading up on stage. All of our times together will be remembered fondly always. - Posted by: Tom and Donna Chapman (Brother and Sister in Law) on: Nov 05, 2012

  • During his time working here in Calgary, he worked with a gentleman who later referred to Uncle John as the kindest man he'd ever worked with. I would think many colleagues said just that, it is certainly how his family will remember him. - Posted by: Cathy and Avin Perkins (niece) on: Nov 02, 2012

  • One time at the dinner he broke into song from his homeland. What a lovely evening, beautiful voice and wonderful memories he provided. - Posted by: Derryl Poole (niece) on: Nov 02, 2012
