I just don't know where to begin. First I offer my condolences to the Fiorino family and next of kin. Michele Fiorino's life was in many ways similar to that of my family. We came from the same town - San Giovanni in Fiore in Italy. Michele lived right across the street from my father - the street being the Via Nova Suttana. When we came to Canada and for much of our early years and beyond we would socialize with Michele and his family - wife Angelina and daughters Elvira, Anna and mother-in -law Annamaria - on various occasions such as birthday parties, holiday season celebrations, summer holidays, etc. They were - and are - an integral part of my life. I'll never forget those great parties at 1099 Corydon Avenue. They were a lot of fun. Michele, from time to time, would play his accordion. From those fingers there emerged the sounds of tangos, waltzes and mazurkas. I have nothing but wonderful and fond memories of the Fiorinos. Michele traveled a lot and he would share marvelous stories of his trips. I also remember him to be an avid opera lover. He had an extensive collection encompassing the many great composers such as Verdi and Puccini. When I heard of his passing a piece of me seemed to die as well. But I will always have a font of memories to draw on. May he rest in peace. Stan Carbone - Posted by: Stan Carbone (friend) on: Nov 19, 2012
