Born: Jul 09, 1922
Date of Passing: Nov 19, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA THARNOVITCH (nee PODBORSKY) July 9, 1922 - November 19, 2012 With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Baba, PB and Auntie, Bertha Tharnovitch, with her son by her side, at the age of 90. Bertha was predeceased by her husband John, parents Mary and John Podborsky, sister Jean, brother Frankie, nephew Jerry and niece Lorraine. Mom will lovingly be remembered by her son Bob (Carol); granddaughters, Sheri (Keith), Sue (Derek); grandsons Samson and Zak, her special niece Valoree (Tony); as well as nieces Judy (Adam) and Michelle (Dave). Mom was born in Winnipeg and was very proud to say she grew up and lived most of her life in Point Douglas. As a child, they lived on Lisgar, Edward and Hallet Street. Mom also loved to go to her Baba and Gigi's farm in Ladywood, Manitoba with her cousins and siblings. She shared many funny stories about the time she spent out there as well as many others about her growing up. Mom attended Norquay School and graduated from St. John's High School. When she was 19 she met the love of her life, John, and in 1942 they were married and lived 48 years together at 106 Lusted Street. Mom loved to garden, to sew, to sing and to dance. Surpassing many hardships, she lived life to the fullest and adored her family and dogs, especially Smoochie. She enjoyed socializing with everyone and tried to bring a smile to all. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the nurses, aides, volunteers and other staff for being kind, caring and compassionate to Mom while living on Faith Lane at the River East Personal Care Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Manitoba Lung Association or any Animal Charity of your choice can be made in Mom's name. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Bertha has a wonderful freind and neighbur. Her laugh was the best you just smile or giggle when I would pass her door. Her heart was as big as the world.
