ERNEST FUNK August 2, 1932 - December 14, 2012 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Ernest (Ernst) Funk, beloved husband, father and father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, brother- in-law friend on Dec. 14, 2012, at the age of 80, at Riverview Health Center. Ernest was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Nora Funk, father Johan Funk, mother Katharina Funk, and great-granddaughter Annabelle Sawatzky. Ernest is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by his three children; Keely Dyck, Kerri Turner (Al) and Kirby Funk (Faylene). He also leaves to mourn his memory his grandchildren; Shanny and Ryan Kotz, Mark and Stephanie Dyck, Kyle Dyck, Jason and Mel Sawatzky, Jenna and Greg Slobodian, Kaila, Karl and Kathleen Sawatzky and Kaylee and Jessica Mestdagh; great-grandchildren Belle and Nicholas Kotz and Taylor, J.D. and Brody Sawatzky; his brother John (Anne) Funk, sister Katy (John) Kolks; brothers-in-law Richard (Elfrieda) Redekop and Rudy (Friede) Redekop; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. We know that Dad is at peace in heaven now that he has been reunited with his beloved wife Nora. My First Christmas In Heaven I See The Countless Christmas Trees Around The World Below, With Tiny Lights, Like Heaven's Stars Reflecting In The Snow The Sight Is So Spectacular Please Wipe Away That Tear, For I Am Spending Christmas With Jesus Christ This Year I Hear The Many Christmas Songs That People Hold So Dear, But The Sounds Of Music Can't Compare With The Christmas Choir Up Here. I Have No Words To Tell You The Joy Their Voices Bring, For It Is Beyond Description To Hear The Angels Sing. I Know How Much You Miss Me I See The Pain Inside Your Heart, But I Am Not So Far Away We Really Aren't Apart. I Can't Tell You Of The Splendor Or The Peace Here In This Place, Can You Just Imagine Christmas With Our Saviour Face To Face? I'll Ask Him To Lift Your Spirit As I Tell Him Of Your Love, So Then Pray For One Another As You Lift Your Eyes Above. Please Let Your Hearts Be Joyful And Let Your Spirit Sing, For I Am Spending Christmas In Heaven And I'm Walking With The King! The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Riverview Health Center for the kindness, compassion and respect shown to our dad. A celebration of his Ernest's life will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 11:00 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
