HILJE (HILDA) VINKE (nee BOS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Vinke, wife of Jan Vinke and mother of Roy Vinke and Peggy Legras on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. After a lengthy illness Hilda passed away peacefully with her family beside her. Hilda was born in Holland on March 18, 1922 to Arnold and Grietje Bos. Hilda grew up in Aalten and Zwolle, Holland. She began her working career as a payroll officer. She met her future husband Jan Vinke in 1949 and they were married in 1952. Due to the difficulties and lack of work after the war they immigrated to Canada, and made Winnipeg their new home. Once settled in Winnipeg they started their family and Hilda changed her career path to be a loving and caring mother. In her earlier years in Holland mom loved to skate the canals and go dancing. In Canada she enjoyed the many beaches, dancing and walking in the parks. Mom was also a lover of animals and always had a huge smile on her face when she met up with any of our family or stray pets. Mom was a soft spoken lady with a very caring heart, and loved watching comedy sitcoms. Hilda was predeceased by her mother Grietje and farther Arnold Bos, sister Riek Blom. Hilda is survived by her husband, Jan Vinke of 60 yrs.; her daughter Peggy Legras; grandsons Derrick and Jake, (Sam and great-grandson Zenon); son Roy Vinke, (Rosemary); granddaughters Candace (Matt) and Kristen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Loes Godri (Cor) from Winnipeg, her nieces and nephews and family in Holland. A memorial service will be held at Holy Angel Mausoleum, located in Green Acres Cemetery, Highway#1 East at Navin Rd., on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a gathering of family and friends.
