GEORGE DAVIS April 30, 1917 - January 4, 2013 George passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at Concordia Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Mary in 2005 and son Dennis in 1961, he is survived by his son Gordon (Barbara), grandchildren, Lisa (Steve), Douglas (Vanessa), and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary. In George's early years, he was very active in sports - baseball, hockey, roller-skating and football. In 1942, as all young men did, he joined the war efforts and served in the military branch of the R.C.A.F. as an airframe mechanic until the end of the war. After the war, he came back to Winnipeg and settled in to raise his family. He worked at Air Canada for 30 years until his retirement in 1975. George remained very active in the community. He was with the Native Sons baseball team and Air Canada hockey team and was lucky enough to have won several championships along the way. When George lost his wife, he sold their home and moved into Kildonan House where he started a new chapter in his life. He met Audrey and enjoyed time with her going to shows, restaurants and even travelled a little. They had season tickets to the Symphony and loved the outing and the music. George was a good man and tried to live his life the best he could and had a very positive perspective. He was an avid reader and could hold a conversation on just about any topic you wanted to talk about. He will be missed by all who knew him. A private family interment has taken place and a service and celebration of George's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Rev. Diane Gilford officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Sorry Gord & Barb to hear of your Dad's passing. Your father was a person I always respected and admired for his kindness and caring for people in general. I have lost touch with him over the years but never forgot him. Your old friend Clarke - Posted by: Clarke Peterman (Air Canada Friend) on: Jan 29, 2013

Belated condolences to the Davis family. George was wonderful friend to all of us who played hockey with the Air Canada teams and Chiefs. He spent countless hours making sure things were just right in the dressing room to the timekeepers box. We enjoyed his company at many out of town tournaments over the past thirty five years. As much as George loved being a part of these teams he always took interest in things outside of hockey such as family and trips. He was greatly appreciated and admired by all who had the pleasure of being around him. Miss you George - Posted by: bob ouellette (friend) on: Jan 16, 2013
