I have known Father Oucharyk for over 50 years. I was an altar boy for him for many years. He just about had me go in for the priesthood. He was also a very good friend of my parents for years. He married me in 1971 in the old Church of the Resurection. Unfortunately I couldn't visit him as I became disabled from an accident at work in Dauphin in 2000. When we moved back here in 2000, he was already gone to Winnipeg. My wife's and my thoughts and prayers are with him. May he rest in peace in the arms of God and may the Blessed Virgin Mary forever keep him in her care. Vichnaya Pamnyat. - Posted by: george prociuk (friend) on: Jan 12, 2013

I was Mitrat Oucharyk's first baptism. The event took place in our farm home in the RM of Ethelbert, MB. He and my late father John knew each other since childhood. My late mother Pearl was a church choir singer and cantor so they knew each other too. Sixty years after the christening, I met Mitrat Gregory. He clearly described in detail my demeanour during the baptism! (It was nice to know I was calm and quiet.) Thank you Mitrat for your many years of service to our Lord. My condolences to your family and friends. "Vichnaya Pamyat" "Everlasting Memory" - Posted by: Nadia (Bazylo) Trafananko (My priest) on: Jan 12, 2013
