Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN MAE JONES (nee WEAKLEY) 1921 - 2013 The family of Lillian Mae Jones is humbled to announce of Mom's passing from this life on January 7, 2013. Mom was a lady of conviction who was blessed with 91 years with family and friends. She was steadfast in her ideals and beliefs of which she never wavered. Mom was gifted with a creative talent and spent numerous hours sewing, knitting and creating crafts that she enjoyed giving to others. Mom was happy and honoured to make countless mitts and hats for Winnipeg Harvest along with other charity organizations. As a young girl Mom would knit skirts and sweaters, which would earn her 25 cents an outfit. Throughout her career, Mom worked as a secretary for the War Effort, a clerk at Eaton's, a secretary at Dominion Fur, and a clerk at Taxation. In 1949 Mom married our Dad, Mansell Claude Jones and had 24 years with Dad until his passing in 1973. Except for two years in Toronto, the majority of their working lives were spent in Winnipeg. They both loved to spend their spare time outside the city and spent many a summer at the family cottage at Matlock. Later they enjoyed camping throughout Manitoba and Ontario. After Mom retired, she purchased a cottage at Sandy Hook and enjoyed summers there. Her daughters Marneen Ann Lusty (Malcolm) and Elenor May Nowosad (Donald) are left to mourn her passing along with her grandchildren, Collin (Ashley), Darren (Sabrina), Eric (Adrienne), Steven (Kym) and Daniel. Great-grandchildren, Theresa, Julia, Avery, Michael and Harley. Also left to mourn are her sister Joyce Lewis (Harold), her sisters-in-law Betty Hammond (Larry), Shirley (Jerry), Phyllis Weakly (Albert), brother-in-law Lionel Jones (Joan) and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Jonina Weakley, her sisters Gladys Wright (George), Kay Wunch (Ernie) and her brother Albert Weakley. Also predeceased by Dad's parents, Clifford and Martha Jones and siblings Joyce McCausland, Gordon Jones, David Jones. Mom's wishes were that a formal funeral will not be held at this time. The family will be honouring Mom's life with a memorial service in the spring when we can lay her to rest with Dad. In lieu of flowers should family and friends desire, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Knitter's Prayer I pray when risen from the dead, I may in glory stand. Perhaps a crown upon my head, But four needles in my hand. I never learned to sing or play, So let no harp be mine. From childhood to my dying day Plain knitting's been my line. And so, accustomed to the end, In plying useful stitches. I'll be content, if given to knit, The little angel's britches. "Mom" was such a kind person, I will cherish always my Christmas sock that she knitted me and used every year. I will miss her sense of humor and her tell it like it is way. Rest in peace and may your knitting needles never rest. - Posted by: Shirley and Albert (friends) on: Jan 20, 2013
