DONNIE JOSEPH PAUL DESROCHERS Peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer, Donnie Desrochers passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on January 24, 2013. Donnie leaves to cherish his memory his wife Paulette; sons Martin (Valerie), Shawn (Maggie); grandchildren Noah (Noah's Mom, Sheena), Taylor, Summer and Cody; sister Bernice (Phil); nephews Daniel and Michaël; nieces Kayla, Melissa and Cara (Kevin); in-laws Rose, Janine (Gerald), Nicole (Garry), Ubald and Charles. His puppy girl "Keela" will miss her grandpa who loved her so much. Donnie was born on August 12, 1949 in Swan Lake, Manitoba and resided in Winnipeg for most of his life. He was a proud and loving Grandpa. Family was his first priority. We will be forever grateful for the sacrifices he always made for us. Donnie loved fishing and hockey. His Montreal Canadiens were the team he cheered for. Donnie was an owner/operator for Direct Express for over 30 years. A special thank you to the Direct Express Team; all the wonderful people and customers who were there to stand beside him and see the sun on the dark days. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to Victoria's Quilts Canada (Quilts are made to comfort people with cancer). The family would like to express their gratitude to all doctors, nurses and staff with CancerCare Manitoba. Special thanks to Dr. Marc Frechette, Dr. Tony Battad and the palliative care staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful care and support given to Donnie. We are grateful to family and friends who were there for support. You can pay your last respects at 1:30 p.m. followed by The Celebration of Life for Donnie at Green Acres on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Fred Olds officiating.
