Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE BERNICE DOWLING (nee PFEIFER) Our mother passed away peacefully on January 29, 2013. She was born on October 6, 1924 to Anton and Mary Pfeifer (Gotfried) and grew up on the family farm in Ladywood with her siblings and received her education there. As a young woman, she came to Winnipeg working for many years before starting her family. Her children could always find her cooking, baking, cleaning or making perogies. One thing she enjoyed more than anything was being surrounded by her children, friends and family. She could always be counted on for fancy sandwiches and dainties for special occasions. In later years, Mom travelled by train to BC. and Montreal for Expo 1967, where she really enjoyed her time away seeing many interesting things. Mom retired in 1985 and loved working in her garden and having her family around her. She is survived by her children Doug and Doxie Dowling of Pine Falls, Donna Dowling of Winnipeg, Dwight and Stephie Dowling of Calgary and Darlene Dowling (Hersh) of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Dawn and Bob Nault of Niverville, Trevor and Colette Dowling of BC, Shana and Dan Courcelles of Pine Falls, Jonathon and Vanessa Kovacs of Winnipeg, Danny Dowling of Winnipeg and Robbie Dowling (Nicole) of Calgary and great-grandchildren Curtis Dowling of Winnipeg, Jessica and Jeremy Dowling of BC, Andrew Nault (Tamara) of Ile des Chenes, Chelsea Nault of Winnipeg, Cullen and Devin Courcelles of Pine Falls and Charlie and Alexander Kovacs of Winnipeg, as well as great-great-granddaughter Joselyn Nault of Ile des Chenes. Thank you to Palliative home care and to St. Boniface Hospital. Special Thanks to Dr. Adrian Robertson for all of your help. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, February 4 at 11:30 a.m. in the reception area of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. When day is done I like my rest, To freshen up And look my best.
