Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Hello to Bev and Joan and family; I was really glad to be able to have that last telephone call to your dad the same day as his birthday, before he passed. I remember meeting him and your mom a few times at funerals for family and I was intrigued by him. I got a very good vibe from him. Later, many years later, along with Bev, on Vancouver Island, we met again. I really liked his quiet, thoughtful, caring personality. I enjoyed on the phone him telling me of the places he lived in and what was important to him. I wish I had been able to have had more time with him. I love the navy photo of him you put on here. It was nice as well, to see the comments from Dora, Barbara and Dawn regarding Uncle Bernie. It becomes really important to hear the stories of family before they pass. I am trying to work on the genealogy of the Isaaks, Friesens and Doerksens, while there still are those left to hear them. • Hello Bev and Joan. Some time has gone by since your father passed. I am glad to have come upon this site in order that I might offer my condolences to you. Of course I never met my Uncle Bernie but my mother has told mE stories and there are pictures of him with my father, always laughing. I hope that both of you are well. Best wishes to your mother. • Dear Joan and Bev, I am so sorry for your loss. I have many wonderful memories of your dad - building fires at the farm, his rescuing us from our rafting adventure, his toast at my wedding. I remember "Uncle Bernie" as a kind, gentle, and encouraging man, with an infectious laugh. My sympathies to you and your families. - Posted by: Audrey (Goossen) Robertson () on: Feb 10, 2013
