MELVIN JOHN HENUSET August 18, 1942 February 9, 2013 With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Mel, with family at his side. He will be dearly missed by his wife Lorna (Galbraith), of 45 years, daughters Lora Leigh (Bob) and Allison (Richie) and cherished granddaughters Jordan, Rhyanne, Abigail and Grace. He is also survived by his brothers Al (Marlene) and Randy, sisters Lynne (Ken), Brenda (Harvey) and Debbie (Gary), and sister-in-law Judy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mel married the love of his life, Lorna, on March 4, 1967. They had two daughters, Lora Leigh and Allison, and made their home in Winnipeg. In 2000, after Mel spent years clearing trees, he fulfilled his life's dream as they built their dream home on the golf course in Sandy Hook, MB. Mel was very proud of his new home and loved to spend his time outdoors making sure his yard was looking fantastic. Throughout his career as an estimator he worked for Comstock, Red River Construction, McNichol Construction, Nairn Construction and retired from B.A. Robinson. Mel's work acquaintances often became good friends and they could be found at our home for parties and dinners. Mel loved golfing, curling, fishing, riding his bike, and working in his yard. He was fondly referred to as the "Energizer Bunny" as he never seemed to sit still always puttering in the yard or out getting some exercise. He loved to be outside in the summer many days only coming in when Lorna called him in for dinner. He was nicknamed "Melvis" for his love of the King and many impersonations. Mel and Lorna loved to dance and entertain and their home was always filled with friends, love and happiness. Mel will always be remembered for his sense of humour, friendship and hospitality. Cremation has taken place and we would like to invite you to a celebration of his life on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. A special thank you to all of our friends and family for all your loving care and support in our time of need. We would also like to thank the Doctors and nurses at the CLL clinic at CancerCare, a special thank you to Dr. James Johnston for your care and compassion, and the staff on GD4 for your kindness and care over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba, CLL Clinic or a charity of your choice. Mel's wishes were for his Sandy Hook Snow-birds to have a toast to celebrate his life in the spring.

Lorna, Lora Leigh, Allison and family . . . I am sorry and sad to hear of Mel’s passing. My experience and memories of Mel was that he was genuine, kind and always had a smile to share with everyone. When he asked how you were doing and your family he really listened and cared . . . good men don’t come along every day like Mel. As sad as it will be, there will always be the memory of him to hold in your heart. Know that I am thinking of you all. May God surround you with peace as you walk through this time of sorrow and the company of friends and the love of family help to comfort you.
