MARION BENOIT Marion Benoit, beloved wife of the late Francis Benoit of Ste. Anne, MB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Middlechurch Home. Marion leaves behind two sons John and Gary, her three grandchildren, Crystal, Braillie and Jaden. Her brother Roy Heath in England, her sister-in-law Alice Belanger of Selkirk, MB, Irene Ross (Lorne) of Downey, California, Jean Joyce (Ron) of Kamloops, B.C. Brother-in-law Edward Benoit (Betty) of Winnipeg, as well as many nieces and nephews both in Canada and England. Marion was born in Comberbach, England, on January 25, 1937. At the request of her Aunt Gwen Kirkwood she immigrated to Canada. She met her future husband, Francis and moved to Ste. Anne to settle on the family farm. This was quite a change for Marion but she accepted her new role and became a great assistant to Francis. Her interest in music and singing lead her to become the choir director at the English Mass in Ste. Anne. She enjoyed her many trips to England especially when she took her husband and two sons to meet her relatives. After her sons left home, she took on a job as coordinator for Home Care in the Ste. Anne District. She enjoyed visiting the many clients in her care. When illness curtailed their activities, they sold the farm and moved to Winnipeg. They enjoyed city living for a few years. Francis passed in year 2000. Illness caused Marion to be placed in Middlechurch Home where she received excellent care for several years. Special thanks are extended to the nursing staff, her companions, especially Penny and to Mgr. Louis McCloskey for his spiritual guidance given to her. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, 3597 Main St., West St. Paul, MB, with Mgr. Louis McCloskey as celebrant. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Society or the Middlechurch Home. Interment will take place at a later date in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

  • Hi mom I'm going to miss you. So sorry I can't be there as my job is keeping me away but you're in my thoughts. - Posted by: john benoit (son) on: Feb 26, 2013

  • Dear John, Gary and members of the Benoit family I was so sorry to see your Mother’s obit in the Free Press yesterday. Please accept my deepest sympathies. My parent’s farm was on the Seine just across the river from the Benoit farmstead. I remember your Grandmother Rose quite well. However, it’s Marion that I knew best. She was warm, welcoming, had a beautiful smile and spoke with the most delightful accent. I babysat at your house quite a few times and have fond memories of the two of you; two precious little boys and their dog! My thoughts are with you at this time. As I’m still working, I will not be free to attend the memorial service on Tuesday. May peace and solace surround you during what must be a very difficult time.
