ELAINE JUDITH GRAYSON (nee ROBERTS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Judith Grayson (nee Roberts), surrounded by her family, at the Stonewall Hospital on Monday, March 11, 2013, at the age of 67. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 49 years, Robert Grayson; her daughter Shelley (Bill) Cookson; her son Clinton (Darlene); granddaughters Brandi (Adam), Kaitlyn (Will), Carlee (Ryan), Marissa; and very special great-granddaughter Victoria; her brother Herbert (Joan) and daughter Meghan; and sister Gail. She will also be missed by Janice and Dino Decker, Richard and June Grayson and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Herbert (1991) and Iris Roberts (1984). Elaine was born May 29, 1945, at the old Grace Hospital in Winnipeg and moved to the Balmoral area with her parents in 1947. She attended Good Hope School and Stonewall Collegiate. During her childhood, she worked hard on the family farm, feeding and milking cows and was of great assistance to her brother and sister, by sitting on logs while they cut them into firewood lengths. In 1958 she was chosen to be Jersey Cattle Club Diary Princess at the Red River Exhibition. After she and Robert were married, she was employed at various businesses in Stonewall and in the Food Services Department of the R.C.M.P. in Winnipeg from where she retired in 2008. Elaine liked to read. She loved the outdoors, and especially going camping to Clear Lake and in the Whiteshell. She loved to tend to her flowers and garden (and to chase away the rabbits). The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Stonewall Hospital for the care they gave Elaine during her short stay in the hospital. A private family funeral service will be held as per Elaine's wishes. She will be laid to rest in the Balmoral Victoria Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to South West District Palliative Care, Box 1282, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0, or Hull's Haven Border Collie Rescue, 88 McAdam St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 0A4.
