NANCY ZACHARIAS (KROEKER)
Date of Passing: Mar 16, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNANCY ZACHARIAS (nee KROEKER) Nancy Zacharias, age 52, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on March 16, 2013. She was surrounded by the love of many, the love she had so freely given throughout her life and which was now being returned in abundance. Nancy had a long and courageous battle with cancer, fighting every step of the way. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Jeff, son Bryce and daughter Perrin. She leaves to mourn her mother Helen Kroeker; sister Mona Kroeker (Brian Fey), niece Kelsey, nephew Teagan; parents-in-law Jack and Gloria Zacharias; brother-in-law Scott Zacharias (Bridgette), nephew Jack, niece Brielle. Nancy had the blessing of recently discovering and connecting with her second family: sister Tracey Jamison (Brad), niece Samantha; brother Chris Jamieson (Kristy) nephew Joshua, niece Kyla; brother Michael Jamieson (Sue Haskett) brother Paul Jamieson (Shelley) niece Hallie; brother Sean Jamieson (Christine), niece Dominique, nephews Caden and Easton; brother Shane Jamieson. She is predeceased by her daughter Samantha and father Peter Kroeker. Nancy will be remembered for her big heart, generosity, patience, and kindness. Her smile was always warm and cheerful, warming the hearts of those around her. Even throughout her treatments, Nancy would give the doctors and nurses the gift of a smile. She loved to knit; cross stitch, and was an accomplished folk art painter. She always had multiple projects on the go at once, which were to be gifts to others she rarely made things just for herself. Her love of animals, particularly those lost or abandoned, knew no bounds. She loved collecting fine china, was a fantastic cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Nancy was a Chartered Accountant, working for the Law Society of Manitoba as an auditor when her illness struck. During her many years there, Nancy earned the respect and admiration of her co-workers and the lawyers she audited. She was an active member of her church, volunteering her time mostly in the Sunday School, first as teacher, then as a longtime co-ordinator. Above all Nancy loved her family, her animals (three cats and three dogs), and life. She was taken from us all too soon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Manitoba Mutts. A heartfelt thanks from the family to all of those who supported them through Nancy's illness. Thank you to all those at CancerCare who cared for Nancy; and especially to the members of the Palliative Care team at St. Boniface Hospital who made her last days comfortable. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St., Winnipeg, at 11:00 a.m. A private interment at Glen Eden Cemetery will occur. Nancy was a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, friend.... She was many things to many people. I thank all of you who have shown and are showing that she IS a good part of your lives. May you all be blessed because you care. Jeff, Bryce and Perrin, we are so sorry to hear about your loss. We have been disconnected the last few years from our NKMC family, but we have always missed our brothers and sisters. We had a strong admiration for Nancy's tireless efforts in not only teaching our children in Sunday school, but organizing it as well. It is those unseen acts that pay tribute to a great lady. Nancy always offered a kind smile and we will think of that fondly as we remember her. May God bless you all and your extended families. May he comfort you in knowing that the suffering has been removed. - Posted by: Doug, Kim, Jason, Josh and Melissa Zapp (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2013
